
The Enneagram is a very ancient model of personality type that has enjoyed a lot of attention in recent years. It suggests that all human personality can be described under nine headings or numbers (Enneagram means "nine"). While it describes character traits it is principally an instument for conversion and is consequently a very useful tool in the work of direction.

Liz Anne Smith is on the staff of the MA Theology Spirituality and Ministry program at ACU. She currently co-ordinates the program of training in Spiritual Direction as well as supervising students and practitioners in spiritual direction and pastoral ministry.
Sue, Mary and Liz Anne all received their training in the Enneagram at the Institute for Spiritual Leadership in Chicago. Together they will represent the diviersity and gifts of the three Enneagram centres - head, heart and gut.

One of the core elements of spiritual direction is accompanying the directee on their journey into prayer. During this weekend we will explore the meaning ofprayer and the diversity of experiences that can be named as prayer. We will reflect on our own experience of prayer and refine our abilities in journeying with others as they explore the depth and breadth of their prayer.

Philip, an Anglican priest, became the Director of the Julian Centre, an independent ecumenical Centre for Spirituality and Spiritual Direction based in Adelaide, in 1997. He is a founding member and past President of the Australian Network for Spiritual Direction (ANSD) as well as the convenor or the Ecumenical Spiritual Direction Association (ESDA) in SA for over ten years. Currently Philip is the foundation President of the Australian Ecumenical Council for Spiritual Direction (AECSD).

In the beginning was the Word .. before language and speech, yet our culture implies that if something cannot be articulated in words it either does not exist or is not our concern. This leads many to a deep sense of inadequacy. This weekend will offer exploration of a number of creative expressions as tools in the art of spiritual guideance.
